很難想像布蘭詩歌這樣純粹的音樂，會是二十世紀的現代作品。奧夫在閱讀這套十四世紀詩作後大受感動，選出二十四首譜成整齣作品。內容講述命運女神如巨輪般無情的滾動，從首演後就大受歡迎，氣勢磅礡的第一樂章合唱曾經在許多電影、廣告中出現。普列文以電影配樂大師的身分跨足古典樂壇，對於這個曲子當然是發揮其戲劇性效果，壯麗而豐富的音效讓所有人印象深刻。留聲機雜誌給予高評：「一份生動而充滿個性的演出，這個版本有著十分豐富的效果，而且其錄音音質重是華麗非常。」另外，美國發燒天書亦將此版收錄在超級唱片榜單中，現在經由 Hi-Q 唱片的重刻，終於以原貌重現江湖。

     This recording dates from the zenith of André Previn’s golden era at the helm of the London Symphony Orchestra and has been newly cut at EMI’s Abbey Road Studios from the original stereo EMI Master Tapes
